Everything you need to know before booking your Ghana journey with Cool Trips & Tours.

Getting Started

Cool Trips & Tours is a Ghanaian-owned private tour company specialising in personalised, end-to-end travel experiences across Ghana — from day trips and cultural immersions to beach retreats, group packages and heritage journeys. We handle everything so you can simply arrive and experience.

Not at all! While we have deep expertise serving the African diaspora — especially travellers from the UK, US, Europe, and other parts of Africa — we warmly welcome anyone who wants to discover Ghana. Whether it's your first visit or your tenth, we craft experiences that feel personal, meaningful, and memorable for all.

It's simple: browse our Destinations page to explore Ghana's most incredible sites. Save the ones that interest you to your My Journey list, then click "Plan These Trips" — our planner will pre-fill your choices. Tell us your dates, group size, and budget, and submit your enquiry. Our team will get back to you within 24–48 hours with a personalised itinerary proposal.

We recommend booking at least 4–8 weeks in advance to secure the best accommodation and allow time to craft a truly tailored itinerary. For peak season (December–January, especially during Homowo and Christmas), we advise booking 3–4 months ahead. That said, we can often accommodate shorter timelines — just reach out and we'll see what's possible.

Destinations & Itinerary

We cover destinations across all regions of Ghana — from the colonial forts and castles along the Cape Coast, to the lush Volta Region waterfalls, the cultural heartland of Kumasi, the wildlife reserves of the north, and the vibrant beaches of the west. Browse our Destinations page to explore the full list.

Absolutely — customisation is the heart of what we do. Every trip we plan is unique. Tell us what matters to you: cultural experiences, beaches, history, nightlife, food, family gatherings, or ancestral research. We'll build an itinerary around your preferences, group size, and budget. Nothing is cookie-cutter here.

We specialise in private, personalised trips — but we absolutely cater to groups. Whether it's a family reunion, a friends' getaway, a church group visit, or a corporate retreat, we handle groups of all sizes. We also organise special-interest group experiences for diaspora organisations, alumni associations, and travel clubs. Reach out to discuss your specific needs.

Yes — this is one of our most meaningful services. Many of our diaspora clients come to Ghana specifically to reconnect with their roots. We can arrange transport, a local guide, a community introduction, and even assist with tracing family history. Please include as much detail as possible about your hometown or region when submitting your enquiry.

Logistics & Services

We don't book international flights directly, but we can advise on the best options from your country of departure. Most major carriers fly into Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra. Once you're on the ground in Ghana, we take care of everything — all domestic travel, logistics, and experiences are fully managed by us.

Yes. Airport pickup and drop-off are included in all our full-service packages. A Cool Trips representative will be waiting for you at Kotoka International Airport with a name card when you land. We'll also see you off on your departure day. It's part of how we make the whole experience seamless from the moment you touch down.

Absolutely. We work with a curated selection of hotels, guesthouses, lodges, and eco-resorts across Ghana to suit every budget — from comfortable mid-range stays to premium boutique properties. We'll recommend options based on your preferences and location on each night of your itinerary. If you already have a hotel preference, just let us know.

Yes. All our packages include professional, English-speaking local guides who are passionate about Ghana's history, culture, and people. Our drivers are experienced, vetted, and use comfortable, air-conditioned vehicles. Your safety and comfort are our priority throughout every journey.

Pricing & Payment

Every trip is priced based on your group size, duration, destinations, accommodation preferences, and chosen activities. As a rough guide, our packages start from around $500 per person for shorter, budget-friendly itineraries, and go upward for premium multi-week experiences. We'll provide a detailed, itemised quote with your personalised proposal — no hidden fees.

Yes. We understand that a significant trip requires planning and budgeting. We offer flexible payment plans — typically a deposit to confirm your booking, with the remaining balance due closer to your departure date. The exact structure will be outlined in your personalised quote. Just indicate your preference in the enquiry form and we'll find an arrangement that works for you.

We quote in US Dollars (USD) for international clients, though we also accept British Pounds (GBP) and Euros (EUR). Payment details and methods will be provided in your booking confirmation. We accept bank transfers and other electronic payment methods — we'll agree this with you directly.

Yes, we have a fair cancellation policy. Cancellations made more than 30 days before your departure may receive a partial or full refund depending on costs already incurred. Cancellations within 30 days are subject to a fee. We'll always work with you compassionately — life happens. Full terms are outlined in your booking agreement. We strongly recommend travel insurance for all international trips.

Practical Information

Visa requirements depend on your nationality. Citizens of ECOWAS countries do not require a visa. Citizens of most other countries, including the UK, USA, and EU, currently require a visa. Ghana has introduced an e-visa system for many nationalities. We strongly recommend checking with the Ghana Ministry of Foreign Affairs or your nearest Ghanaian embassy for the latest requirements. We're happy to assist with guidance.

Ghana is widely regarded as one of the safest and most welcoming countries in West Africa. It has a stable democracy, a thriving tourism industry, and a warm, hospitable culture. As with any destination, standard travel common sense applies. Our team will brief you on local customs, areas to avoid, and safety tips before your trip. You'll be in good hands.

Ghana is a year-round destination, but the most popular times are November to March (dry season, cooler temperatures, minimal rain) and the December holiday period — which coincides with "December in Ghana", a massive diaspora homecoming celebration with incredible energy. The rainy seasons (April–June and August–October) make for lush green landscapes and fewer crowds. We'll advise on the best timing for your specific interests.

You can reach us via our Contact page, by email, or on WhatsApp for the quickest response. We aim to reply to all enquiries within 24–48 hours. For urgent travel questions, WhatsApp is your best bet — it's how we stay closely connected with all our clients.
